Travel

A small compilation of my recent travels – which have allowed me to grow and learn in a way that nothing else could.

Musée du Louvre – Paris, France – June, 2017

The Louvre Museum is known to contain some of the most important art pieces in the world. However, I consider the museum itself to be a work of art and an architectural masterpiece. The Louvre Pyramid, as seen in the image above, reflects the human movement and activity inside the museum, as well as the advancement of architecture as it continues to preserve art history in its interior.

Centre Pompidou – Paris, France – June, 2017

The circulation inside the Pompidou Museum caught my complete attention as I made my way up the electric escalators towards the art displays. The tube-like structures had exposed skeleton structure, and its transparency allowed me to enjoy the outside view from that height. Most of all, the tube structures surrounding me made me feel almost in a trance as I became more and more excited to make my way into the building.

Valle De Los Caídos – Madrid, Spain – June, 2017

The columns of the exterior of the Valley of the Fallen really stood out to me. They represent the fascism of the 1900’s, the largely-scaled columns making you feel like you’re tiny.

Centre Pompidou – Paris, France – June, 2017

One display at the Pompidou Museum that really got to me was the Bauhaus display. Including original pieces, the display portrayed what the Bauhaus represented: to bring together art, craft and industry. As the Bauhaus is an important part of the history of design and architecture, I really took my time to appreciate all the pieces the display had to offer.

Colosseum – Rome, Italy – June, 2017

Being one of the most important Italian landmarks and architectural works, I was completely absorbed by the Colosseum’s columns and arches. My angle of vision made me feel truly small compared to the grand size of the construction.

Pantheon – Rome, Italy – June 2017

The Pantheon’s oculus is what made me fall in love – the way a single point of light infiltrating from above can make you feel the energy of the sacred space you’re in.

Tour Eiffel – Paris, France – June, 2017

As a landmark of french architecture, the Eiffel Tower seemed unreal as I observed its carefully-engineered steel structure. Its bottom arc marked the perfect spot to take a touristy picture. Having waited my entire lifetime to be in that exact moment, my face gives all of my excitement away.

Paris, France – June, 2017

The moment that will stay forever in my mind and heart: walking the streets of Paris in the golden hour. When it comes to traveling, Paris taught me that getting lost is definitely the best way to find what you’re looking for.

Metro – Madrid, Spain – June, 2017

As the day came to an end and the sun was no longer awake, the city lights became brighter, the conversations louder, and the air denser with life. Madrid is definitely the the city of nightowls (and I never felt more at home).
